Search Continues for Missing Swimmers at Lake Jackson in Sebring

SEBRING, FL – April 27, 2026 – First responders remain on Lake Jackson in Sebring as search efforts continue following reports of two swimmers who were seen in distress near City Pier Beach late Sunday evening.

The Sebring Fire Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Paul Blackman, have been actively searching the lake since the initial call last night.

Initial reports indicate eyewitnesses observed two swimmers, possibly diving or snorkeling, who appeared to be in distress in the area south of City Pier Beach.

First responders will remain on scene and continue search operations.

Authorities are asking anyone who was on the east side of Lake Jackson between the Sebring Elks Lodge and the City of Sebring Pier between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., swimming or diving, and has since exited the lake, to contact Non-Emergent Central Dispatch at 863-402-7200.

The public is also encouraged to check on family members, friends, or coworkers who may have been in the area and have not returned home or reported to work. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities. Nothing further at this time.
