KISSIMMEE, FL — Osceola County officials and community partners gathered Thursday morning to celebrate the groundbreaking of Las Margaritas, a new affordable senior housing development in Buenaventura Lakes aimed at providing safe and accessible housing for older residents.
The development, located at 140 Oakwood Drive, will feature nine one-bedroom units, a clubhouse, and shared outdoor spaces designed to create a welcoming environment for seniors. County officials said the project is part of Osceola County’s ongoing efforts to expand affordable and attainable housing opportunities for residents.
The project is being funded with more than $5 million from Osceola County, along with an additional $850,000 in federal HUD funding secured by U.S. Congressman Darren Soto.
Osceola County District 2 Commissioner Viviana Janer said the development was designed to provide more than just housing.

“When you look at the plans for this project, from the residential units, the clubhouse, the shared outdoor areas, you can tell there was real thought put into creating something personal and welcoming, not just functional,” Janer said. “Because, at the end of the day, housing is about more than buildings—it’s about peace of mind.”
Congressman Soto said the project reflects continued collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies to address affordable housing needs in the region.
Once completed later this year, the housing units will be available to residents who are 62 years of age or older and whose income is at or below 60 percent of the area median income.
Osceola County officials said the Housing & Community Services Department plans to open the application process later this summer. Interested residents are encouraged to follow Osceola County social media channels and the Housing & Community Services webpage for updates on the application process.
Construction, design, and site work for the project are being supported by Cavco, Arnco Construction, Marlin Construction, and Osceola Engineering.
