Two Injured After Lakeland Home Struck by Gunfire

LAKELAND, FL — Two people were injured after a Lakeland home was struck by gunfire late Friday night, according to the Lakeland Police Department. Shortly after 11 p.m. on August 14, officers responded to the 600 block of Choctaw Avenue following reports of a shooting. Police said the suspect or suspects had fled before officers arrived.

Officers located two adult victims who were transported to Lakeland Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, the victims were inside their home when someone outside opened fire on the residence.

Detectives responded to the scene and have taken over the investigation. Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing. No information about the suspect or suspects has been released at this time.
