
Largo – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are investigating a double homicide after two adults were found deceased in their home.
On Friday, June 6, 2025, at approximately 12:35p.m., deputies assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau responded to 29 Saunders Avenue in Largo after a caller requested a welfare check for an employee that did not report for work.
When deputies arrived on scene, they l located the victims, 53-year-old Elizabeth Lee Kirchner and 64-year-old Steven Eric Kirchner, deceased in the living room from apparent gunshot wounds.

Through their investigation, detectives learned the victim’s son, 37-year-old Nicholas Steven Kirchner, fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival.
Detectives received a call from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina regarding a separate incident Nicholas was involved in. During this incident, Nicholas stated “I’ve already killed two people – I’ll kill some more.” Nicholas fled this incident as well and was ultimately taken into custody by the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia.

Nicholas admitted multiple times that he killed his parents and described it as a “righteous kill”. Nicholas was arrested and transported to the County Jail in Georgia with a Felony warrant for two counts of First-Degree Murder Premeditated.
