A weather enthusiast with big ambitions is joining our team! Alina Cooper, an aspiring meteorologist with a passion for severe weather and aviation, is our new weather reporter.
Cooper’s accomplishments started early. She began dual enrollment in 10th grade and graduated from Polk State College in April 2026 with an Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts — one month before graduating from high school.
Her passion for weather began at a young age after reading the I Survived book series, which sparked a fascination with tornadoes, hurricanes and other major weather events.
Cooper has attended three National Storm Chaser Summits, connecting with meteorologists, storm chasers and weather professionals from across the country. She has met figures including Reed Timmer, Jim Cantore, James Spann, Denis Phillips and Edgar O’Neal, whom she has also collaborated with through her Weather Across the Globe series on YouTube.
Cooper plans to attend Florida State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science. Her ultimate goal is to work with NOAA and become a Hurricane Hunter.
Now, Cooper is bringing that passion to Eye In The Sky News. She’s a star in the making, and we’re excited to have her on our team.
