AUBURNDALE, FL — A head on crash on K-Ville Avenue in Auburndale left two individuals deceased Thursday afternoon after a pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:50p on Thursday, September 24 near K-Ville Avenue (CR 542) and Jimmy Lee Road and involved three vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office said a 29-year-old Lakeland man driving a 2006 Ford F350 was traveling eastbound behind a Ford F150 driven by a 67-year-old Winter Haven man.
Approximately 300 feet west of Jimmy Lee Road, the F350 began drifting across the center line before moving back to the right and partially onto the shoulder. The truck then struck the right rear of the F150.
Following that collision, the F350 crossed completely into the westbound lane and struck a 2022 Honda Accord nearly head-on.
The Honda was driven by a 54-year-old Winter Haven man, with his wife riding as a passenger. The driver died at the scene. His wife suffered significant injuries and later died from those injuries. Neither of the other two drivers was injured.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigations Unit is investigating the crash. Nothing further at this time.
