Brush Fire Burns Approximately 5 Acres Near Sebring, One Home Evacuated

SEBRING, FL — Crews with Highlands County Fire Rescue are actively working to contain a brush fire that broke out Monday evening near Bream Avenue and Pompano Drive in Sebring.

Highlands County Fire Rescue was dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:36 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found a rapidly spreading brush fire that has grown to an estimated five acres. As of the latest update, the fire remains 0% contained.

One nearby residence has been evacuated as a precaution while crews work to protect the structure and prevent the fire from spreading further.

Responding Highlands County Fire Rescue units include Engine 7, Rescue 7, Brush 9, Brush 10, Tanker 9, EM 1, Battalion 1, and Division 1. Florida Forest Service personnel are also assisting with containment efforts, utilizing two plows and two Type 6 engines.

Firefighters and forestry crews remain on scene establishing containment lines and working to bring the fire under control. Residents are urged to avoid the area and allow emergency personnel to operate safely.
