Florida Man Struck While Standing Beside Parked Truck on Interstate 4

POLK CITY, FL — A fatal crash on Interstate 4 claimed the life of a 47-year-old Apopka man Tuesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. when a 50-year-old Orlando man driving a Toyota Camry westbound on Interstate 4 failed to maintain control of his vehicle.

Troopers said the Camry traveled onto the outside paved shoulder and struck a trailer that was attached to a parked Chevy Silverado. The Silverado, operated by the Apopka man, was parked along the shoulder of the interstate at the time of the crash.

After colliding with the trailer, the Camry struck the Apopka man, who was standing outside of his vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Orlando driver was not reported to have suffered life-threatening injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash. Nothing further at this time.
