WINTER HAVEN, FL — Tuesday, March 31, 2026 – A mother and her small child were safely reunited after the child was inadvertently left in a Lyft rideshare vehicle outside a RaceTrac gas station on Havendale Boulevard in Winter Haven.
According to the Winter Haven Police Department, the mother had used the Lyft service to travel to the RaceTrac location. She exited the vehicle and was at the rear of the car when it slowly drove away. It appears the driver may not have realized the mother was walking around to the other side of the vehicle to retrieve her baby, who was seated behind the driver.
The mother immediately contacted Winter Haven police. Officers worked with Lyft to reach the driver, who then reported to the Winter Haven Police Department. The child was safely reunited with the mother there.
