Vehicle Hit by Amtrak Train Near U.S. 92 in Auburndale

AUBURNDALE, FL — Authorities responded just before 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, to a crash involving an Amtrak passenger train and a vehicle behind Lowe’s near U.S. Highway 92. Auburndale Police Department, Auburndale Fire Rescue, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, everyone inside the vehicle was able to get out before the train struck it. No one inside the vehicle was injured.

The City of Auburndale reported that at least one passenger aboard the Amtrak train sustained an injury. However, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said there were no reports of serious bodily injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officials noted the railroad crossing where the crash occurred does not have crossing arms or warning lights. The investigation continues. Nothing further at this time.
