DESTIN, FL — Our heroes at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are being reassigned to Santa Rosa County to continue assisting communities in the Florida Panhandle following Hurricane Isaias.
According to an update provided to our team, deputies arrived in Destin Saturday evening and immediately began patrolling Destin and Fort Walton Beach to maintain public safety during widespread power outages.

On Sunday, crews began clearing debris and cutting fallen trees to help residents safely leave their homes.
By Sunday night, conditions in Okaloosa County had significantly improved, prompting a request for the Polk County team to relocate to Santa Rosa County, where recovery needs were greater. The team is expected to be established in Santa Rosa County by Monday afternoon, October 12, to continue assisting communities impacted by the hurricane.
You can count on Eye In The Sky News to closely monitor the deputies’ mission in the Florida Panhandle as we continue providing updates on their recovery efforts. Nothing further at this time.
