LAKELAND, FL — The Lakeland Police Department is recruiting ordained clergy members to serve as Volunteer Police Chaplains, providing emotional and spiritual support to officers, department staff, and community members during times of crisis and need.
Police chaplains assist in a variety of situations, including responding to critical incidents, helping with death notifications, offering counseling and support to law enforcement personnel and their families, and assisting community members affected by crime. Chaplains also serve as a connection between the police department, local faith communities, and social service organizations.
The department is seeking volunteers who are ordained and in good standing with their denomination, can pass a background investigation, and are willing to participate in training while becoming familiar with law enforcement culture and ethics.

Applicants must be available to respond to emergencies and critical incidents, maintain confidentiality and neutrality, respect individuals of all faiths, demonstrate emotional resilience and pastoral sensitivity, and work effectively as part of a team.
The Lakeland Police Department said the program offers clergy an opportunity to serve both the community and the men and women who serve in law enforcement.
Those interested in becoming a Volunteer Police Chaplain or obtaining additional information can contact Senior Chaplain Greg Robinson at cworobbie@aol.com.
