Polk County Fire Rescue Now Offering Free Safety Classes in Spanish

BARTOW, FL — Polk County Fire Rescue is expanding its public education efforts by offering a full catalog of safety classes in Spanish, helping make potentially lifesaving information more accessible to Spanish-speaking residents.

The Spanish-language courses mirror classes PCFR has offered in English for years and will be taught by Public Education Officer Jeannette Mangual.

“Classes like these help inform communities across Polk County on important safety topics like Hands-Only CPR and Stop the Bleed,” Mangual said. “Holding these classes will empower our Spanish-speaking community to protect, respond and recover together.”

The classes include:

  • Check, Call, Compress (Hands-Only CPR)
  • Resident Hurricane Preparedness
  • Emergency? Call 9-1-1
  • Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Fire Station Tour
  • Fire Engine or Ambulance Visit
  • Holiday Fire Safety
  • Home Fire Safety
  • Remembering When: Fire and Falls Prevention for Older Adults
  • Safety Smart in the Water
  • Stop the Bleed Training

There is no service fee for the classes. Residents can request a Spanish-language public education class through the Polk County website.
