Tampa,FL- On June 5, 2025, just after 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of N Dale Mabry Hwy and Columbus Drive in reference to a stationary vehicle with the driver asleep, who was impeding normal traffic flow.
After making contact with the vehicle, officers noticed that the engine was still running, and the vehicle’s gear was in reverse. The driver, 30-year-old Jeremy Johnson (black male, 08/19/1994), was asleep in the driver’s seat but was woken up by officers. Johnson refused to identify himself and exit the vehicle. Officers also located drug paraphernalia in plain view, which Johnson proceeded to pick up and smoke out of it while still inside the vehicle.

During the officers’ continued attempts to take Johnson into custody, he stated he had a bomb inside the vehicle.
In an abundance of caution, southbound traffic on N Dale Mabry Hwy between Tampa Bay Blvd and Columbus Dr was shut down. Officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle and Johnson’s belongings and found the threat to be unfounded.
After about 25 minutes, Johnson complied with commands and exited his vehicle, where he was taken into custody.
