WINTER HAVEN, FL — Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, joined by local and state law enforcement officials, announced during a press conference in Winter Haven Thursday morning the results of a major multi-agency drug trafficking investigation that resulted in 39 arrests and the seizure of pounds of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.
The investigation, dubbed “Operation End of Worlds,” was conducted by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force in partnership with the Auburndale Police Department and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Authorities said 39 suspects were arrested on a combined 249 felony and 42 misdemeanor charges. Eighteen suspects were charged with drug trafficking, and 11 of those suspects face 25-year minimum-mandatory prison sentences.
Investigators seized approximately 4.4 pounds of fentanyl, 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 1.5 pounds of cocaine, 7.8 pounds of marijuana, two firearms and approximately $4,650 in cash.
The Sheriff’s Office identified 48-year-old Michael Edwin Worlds Jr. as the alleged ringleader of the drug trafficking organization.
“A month after securing a wire tap, we were serving search warrants and putting fentanyl and methamphetamine traffickers in jail,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “We took down two of the top five drug dealers in Lakeland, and in doing so, saved lives.”
The investigation began in 2026 as detectives investigated Demairo Harden, who authorities suspected of supplying fentanyl in Lakeland. Investigators subsequently identified Worlds as a suspected supplier to Harden and determined that numerous fentanyl purchases were facilitated from Worlds’ residence on East Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland.
Garius Johnson was identified as an alleged fentanyl courier, while investigators later identified Nickolas Brantley as Worlds’ alleged supplier and Cherrish Willis as his primary drug courier.
Authorities received approval to use resources from Florida’s State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication grant and obtained authorization for wiretaps and surveillance targeting members of the organization.
Four search warrants were ultimately executed at locations connected to the investigation.
At Worlds’ East Memorial Boulevard residence, detectives said they located Worlds, Johnson and Valyncia Burch. Investigators reported finding 58.2 grams of methamphetamine and $1,400 in Burch’s possession, $3,250 in Worlds’ possession and 21.33 grams of marijuana in Johnson’s possession.
Worlds was charged with 67 felonies, including multiple counts of trafficking fentanyl, conspiracy to traffic fentanyl, trafficking cocaine and conspiracy to sell fentanyl and cocaine. Authorities said he faces a 25-year minimum-mandatory prison sentence if convicted of applicable charges.
Investigators also searched a room at the Economy Inn Hotel after allegedly observing Willis travel there from Worlds’ residence. Detectives reported seizing approximately 334.96 grams of fentanyl, 146.77 grams of cocaine, 203.63 grams of marijuana, methamphetamine and a Glock 19 firearm from the room. Authorities said the firearm had previously been reported missing within the Tampa Police Department’s jurisdiction.
Another search warrant was executed at a residence on Dossey Oaks Lane identified by investigators as a “stash house.” Detectives said Melissa Sanchez was found there with approximately 773 grams of fentanyl, 380.62 grams of cocaine and more than 3,580 grams of marijuana.
A fourth warrant was executed at a residence on North Missouri Avenue, also identified as a stash house, where detectives located Brantley and seized approximately 230.85 grams of cocaine, marijuana and ammunition, according to PCSO.
FDLE Tampa Bay Special Agent in Charge Mark Dubina said the operation demonstrated the impact of cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
“Operation End of Worlds shows that when we collaborate, we can take down drug trafficking organizations efficiently and with lasting impact,” Dubina said.
PCSO said the 39 arrested suspects have combined criminal histories totaling 176 previous felony charges, 49 felony convictions, 177 previous misdemeanor charges and 79 misdemeanor convictions.
All suspects charged with trafficking remained in custody without bond at the time of the Sheriff’s Office announcement. Nothing further.
