LAKELAND, FL — A Polk County Public Schools bus driver was injured in an early Thursday morning crash at the intersection of Shepherd Road and Bailey Road in Lakeland.
According to Polk County Fire Rescue, emergency crews were dispatched to the collision at approximately 5:21 a.m. and arrived on scene at 5:28 a.m. Fire rescue officials confirmed that one passenger vehicle and one school bus were involved.
Three patients were transported from the scene to local hospitals for treatment. Fire rescue crews cleared the scene at approximately 6:47 a.m.
Polk County Public Schools confirmed that school bus No. 2319 was involved in the crash. No students were on board the bus at the time of the incident. The school district said the bus driver was transported to a hospital for treatment. No school bus routes were believed to have been impacted or delayed as a result of the crash. Nothing further at this time.
