Auburndale Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving Motorcyclist
On October 12th, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers with the Auburndale Police Department responded to a traffic crash involving a white SUV and a motorcycle at the intersection of Havendale Boulevard and 42nd Street NW in Auburndale.
Investigators determined the SUV driven by William Jesus Santana, 52, was traveling westbound on Havendale Boulevard in the left-turn lane. Mr. Santana began turning south onto 42nd Street, crossing into the path of a green Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Jeremy Clayton Lee Varney, 36, which was traveling eastbound on Havendale Boulevard in the center lane. The motorcycle hit the back passenger side of the SUV. Mr. Varney was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries.
The driver of the SUV was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
