LAKELAND, FL — A Lake Gibson High School student was taken to the hospital Monday morning after the student, who was riding a bicycle, was involved in a collision with a vehicle near the school.
The incident was reported around 6:42 a.m. on Sept. 21 near 6901 Socrum Loop Road N. in Lakeland. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the child was riding a bicycle when they collided with a car. The student was transported to the hospital, and EMS reported that the child suffered scrapes. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. It is unclear whether any citations were issued.
Polk County Public Schools also confirmed receiving a report that a student suffered minor scrapes. The district deferred additional information about the incident to the Sheriff’s Office.
