WINTER HAVEN, FL — A 15-year-old girl was shot Sunday night after police say a 19-year-old man returned to a Winter Haven residence where he had previously been trespassed.
Winter Haven Police responded to a residence on Avenue K NE at approximately 10:36 p.m. on Sept. 27 following reports of a shooting. Officers arrived to find the 15-year-old victim standing near the roadway with a single gunshot wound. The girl was transported to Lakeland Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries, according to WHPD.
Police said 19-year-old Dorion Crosdale Jr. entered the property and began banging on a window. Crosdale had previously been in a relationship with one of the occupants of the residence and had already been trespassed from the property, according to police.
Investigators said Crosdale refused to leave, and the 15-year-old attempted to help get him off the property. Police said Crosdale then produced a firearm and fired one round, striking the girl.
Crosdale fled the area but was later located by officers on Avenue J NE and taken into custody. He was charged with attempted murder, armed trespassing and possession of a firearm by a delinquent.
Police said Crosdale had previously been adjudicated delinquent in February 2021 following a second battery conviction. Nothing further.
