POINCIANA, FL — A 26-year-old Haines City man was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Poinciana early Sunday morning, August 9, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash around 6:07 a.m. on Cypress Parkway, approximately 1.2 miles west of San Clemente Avenue. First responders found the Haines City man deceased inside a 2025 Hyundai Elantra.
The other driver, a 28-year-old Kissimmee woman driving a 2012 Toyota 4Runner, suffered non-life-threatening facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Investigators with the PCSO Traffic Homicide Unit determined that the Toyota 4Runner was traveling west on Cypress Parkway while the Hyundai Elantra was traveling east before the collision. For reasons still under investigation, the 4Runner crossed the center line and collided with the Elantra.
Cypress Parkway was closed for approximately two and a half hours while authorities investigated the crash. The investigation remains ongoing. PCSO said any determination regarding possible criminal or civil charges will be made once the investigation is complete.
