Plant City Road Ranger Operator Injured in I-275 Crash; Driver Arrested for DUI

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – April 29, 2026. — A 52-year-old Plant City man was injured late Wednesday night after a crash involving a Road Ranger vehicle on Interstate 275, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. on northbound I-275, just north of 4th Street North. A marked Road Ranger Ford F600 truck, operated by the Plant City man, was stopped in traffic in the inside lane due to active construction that had closed the three outside northbound lanes.

Traffic cones were in place directing all vehicles into the inside lane, and authorities reported the cones were upright and clearly visible. Advanced warning signs, arrow boards, and multiple law enforcement vehicles with emergency lights activated were also positioned in the lane closure area.

A Honda Accord, driven by a 32-year-old man from Lithia, was traveling northbound in the inside lane and failed to slow or stop upon approaching the stopped Road Ranger truck. The front of the Honda collided with the rear of the truck.

The Plant City man was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Cedrick Travon Brown, was arrested and charged with DUI, refusal to submit to testing, driving while license suspended or revoked, and an active felony warrant.
