WINTER HAVEN, FL – May 3, 2026 – A Winter Haven man who is currently on probation for multiple offenses has been arrested following a reported armed incident at the Winter Haven Recreation and Cultural Center, which recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 30.
On Sunday, May 3, at approximately 6 p.m., officers with the Winter Haven Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call at the facility regarding reports of an individual with a firearm outside the building. Upon arrival, officers learned a juvenile had contacted his mother stating that someone at the property, who had issues with him, was armed.
The juvenile’s mother responded to the location and asked individuals present if anyone had a problem with her son. No one indicated any issues. As she began to leave, she observed 20-year-old Jermarius Julian lift his sweatshirt, reach into his waistband, and produce a black 9mm handgun. The mother stated she would call 9-1-1, and Julian left the area in a gray Kia. The incident was witnessed by others at the scene.

Officers later located a male matching the description provided by witnesses. Julian was positively identified as the individual who displayed the firearm, causing the victim to fear for her safety.
Julian, who is on probation for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, grand theft, fleeing to elude, and violation of probation, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and violation of probation/community control. He was transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center.
