Fatal Crash on I-75 Claims Life of Elderly Haines City Man

Haines City, FL — A tragic accident occurred late Thursday night, May 22, 2025, on Interstate 75, resulting in the death of an 84-year-old man from Haines City. The incident took place at approximately 11:30 PM, just north of State Road 52 at milepost 287.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 1931 Ford Custom northbound when the vehicle experienced a rear tire blowout. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer onto the shoulder and collide with a tree. The impact ejected the driver from the vehicle, and he sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the tire blowout and the circumstances of the crash. The identity of the driver has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Nothing further at this time.
