Green Bay Woman Arrested After Security Officer Pinned Between SUV and Patrol Vehicle in Davenport

DAVENPORT, FL – A 32-year-old Green Bay, Wisconsin, woman accused of intentionally striking a security guard with her vehicle at a Davenport resort has been arrested after authorities tracked her to Orlando International Airport as she attempted to board a flight home.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on July 4 at Windsor Island Resort on Aloha Boulevard in Davenport. Deputies said a security guard contacted law enforcement after a woman driving a gray Chrysler Pacifica attempted to enter the gated community but was told she needed to either be on the approved visitors list or provide identification.

Investigators said the driver, later identified as Tayquanna Butler, 32, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, asked the guard, “What are you going to do if I drive through?” before driving through the entrance gate and continuing onto Lana Avenue.

The security guard followed Butler in a patrol vehicle and again requested identification and asked her to register her vehicle as required for visitors. According to investigators, Butler responded that the guard was “doing too much” and stated she was renting an Airbnb at the resort.

Deputies said that as the security guard stood beside his patrol vehicle, Butler asked him twice, “You wanna get hit?” before intentionally driving into him. The impact pinned the guard between Butler’s vehicle and his patrol car, causing minor injuries and damaging both his duty equipment and the patrol vehicle. Butler then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

The Sheriff’s Office identified Butler as the suspect and confirmed she had rented a property at the resort from July 2 through July 6. An arrest warrant was obtained charging her with aggravated battery, a second-degree felony, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a third-degree felony.

Investigators also discovered Butler had prior arrests in Wisconsin for disorderly conduct and domestic abuse.

After learning Butler was scheduled to fly back to Wisconsin on July 7, Polk County detectives coordinated with the Orlando International Airport Police Department and the Transportation Security Administration. Butler was taken into custody while checking in for her flight.

She is being held at the Orange County Jail awaiting transfer to the Polk County Jail.

“You’re not going to come into Polk County and act the way you do back home, disobeying not just the laws of decorum but the laws of our state,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “All this woman had to do was show some ID and register her car at the resort where she was staying. Now she’s facing two felonies and is locked up in jail.”
