St. Petersburg, FL – On September 7, 2025, a fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Gandy Boulevard and 4th Street North. A Chevy Silverado, driven by 36-year-old Robert Chase Self of Conroe, Texas, was traveling eastbound when it overtook and struck an electric cycle ridden by a 43-year-old St. Petersburg man, also traveling eastbound.
The cyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested Self for driving under the influence. He refused a breath test at the time of the arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
