Fatal Crash Investigation Underway After Truck Strikes Tree in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. — A driver was killed Thursday morning following a single-vehicle crash on Ariana Street in Lakeland, according to the Lakeland Police Department.

According to Lakeland Police, the crash occurred this morning (May 14) at approximately 9:08 a.m. near 1250 Ariana Street when a white Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling westbound on Ariana Street. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted into the eastbound lanes and left the roadway.

The truck traveled through the parking lot of 1250 Ariana Street before striking a tree off the roadway, authorities said.

Lakeland Police Department patrol officers, Polk County Fire Rescue, and the Lakeland Fire Department responded to the scene and provided life-saving measures. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Lakeland Regional Health, where the individual was later pronounced deceased.

Members of the Lakeland Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit responded to investigate the crash. The eastbound lane of Ariana Street was shut down for approximately 30 minutes while the scene was processed.
