Pierson, FL – On July 2, 2025, at approximately 9:14 p.m., the Volusia Sheriff’s Office reported a fatal collision between a vehicle and a train at the railroad crossing on W. Washington Avenue near County Road 3.
The vehicle, a four door Chevrolet, was driven by a 32 year-old male, with his 20 year-old brother, as the passenger. The vehicle was traveling eastbound when it approached the railroad crossing. Investigators determined the driver maneuvered around the active railroad barrier arms, which were lowered, with warning lights operational. A northbound train struck the vehicle as it attempted to cross the tracks.
Both brothers were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has notified the next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
