Clearwater, FL – On July 6, 2025, at approximately 2:03 p.m., the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a verbal bomb threat made by a passenger on Allegiant flight 1023, bound for Roanoke, Virginia. The threat prompted the aircraft to return to St. Pete-Clearwater Airport at around 2:08 p.m.
Detectives from the Threat Management Division identified the passenger as 27-year-old Taj Taylor, who allegedly told another passenger that his laptop was a bomb. The statement was reported to flight attendants by the passenger, with several other witnesses on the flight confirming they also heard Taylor’s claim.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office K9 units conducted a search of Taylor’s belongings, and no bomb was located. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has taken over as the lead agency for the investigation. For details regarding criminal charges or further information, contact the FBI.
