TAMPA, FL – May 5, 2026 — According to the Florida Department of Transportation, crews will temporarily close the westbound Interstate 4 ramp to northbound Interstate 275 overnight in Tampa.
The closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, weather permitting. During this time, motorists traveling westbound on I-4 will not be able to access the northbound I-275 ramp and will be detoured around the work zone.

The posted detour directs drivers to continue west on I-4, exit at Exit 45A (Downtown East/West), keep left toward Downtown East, proceed south on Jefferson Street, turn left onto Harrison Street, then left onto Orange Avenue, and re-enter the interstate using the northbound I-275 entrance ramp.
Drivers are advised to use caution in the area and remain alert for construction workers and pedestrians.
FDOT officials stated the overnight closure is required to allow maintenance work as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project.
