On June 28, 2025, at 4:05 p.m., Polk County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported watercraft in distress at the intersection of Camp Mack Road and Steedly Avenue, aiming to provide clarity on the significant fire rescue presence. PCFR crews arrived at 4:23 p.m. and confirmed no crash had occurred and no watercraft was in distress.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers informed PCFR that the call related to a law enforcement matter. PCFR cleared the scene, and the incident was transferred to FWC for further investigation. Eye in the Sky News has reached out to FWC for comment.
