DAVENPORT, FL – A 28-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning in Davenport, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:34 a.m. near the intersection of Home Run Boulevard and Westview Road. Investigators said a 2019 BMW was traveling westbound on Home Run Boulevard when the 26-year-old driver lost control while entering a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a power pole, traveled down a slope, and rolled over multiple times.
According to PCSO, three people were inside the BMW at the time of the crash. During the rollover, the driver and a 28-year-old female rear passenger were ejected from the vehicle. A 31-year-old front passenger, who investigators said was the only occupant wearing a seat belt, remained inside the BMW.
First responders transported the driver to a local hospital with minor injuries. The front passenger was evaluated and cleared at the scene.
The rear passenger was taken to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
