LAKELAND, FL — Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center has been nationally recognized by the American Heart Association for its commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based stroke care.
The hospital received the Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, which recognizes hospitals that consistently follow the latest research-based guidelines to improve outcomes for stroke patients. The award highlights the medical center’s dedication to providing timely treatment that helps save lives, reduce disability, and support faster recovery.
In addition to the Gold Plus award, Lakeland Regional Health earned the Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite Plus designation for reducing the time between an eligible stroke patient’s arrival and treatment with clot-busting medication. The medical center also received the Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award for providing evidence-based care to stroke patients with Type 2 diabetes, who face a higher risk of complications.
Morgan Dandridge, BSN, RN, SCRN, stroke program coordinator at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, said the hospital remains committed to following the latest treatment guidelines to improve patient outcomes and help people throughout Polk County live longer, healthier lives.
The American Heart Association noted that hospitals participating in the Get With The Guidelines program have been associated with improved patient outcomes, including higher rates of patients returning home after treatment, fewer readmissions, and lower mortality rates.
Lakeland Regional Health also continues to meet the standards of a Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing rapid diagnosis and advanced treatment for stroke patients arriving at its emergency department.
The recognition reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality stroke care to patients across Central Florida.
