Haines City, FL — On Monday, October 20, 2025, Polk County Fire Rescue and Haines City Fire Department responded to a medical call on Kalogridis Road. Upon arrival, crews encountered a naked patient on the floor. During treatment, the patient became combative and seized a firearm. PCFR Firefighter/Paramedic Brandyn Harris and HCFD Engineer Justin Keene disarmed the patient. According to reports provided PCSO, the patient attempted to pull the firearm’s trigger. Keene unloaded the weapon and secured it out of the patient’s reach.
The patient was transported to a local hospital. PCSO is investigating the incident. PCFR and HCFD are pursuing charges, and the patient faces allegations of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a firefighter. Nothing further at this time.
