Fatal Crash: SUV Goes Airborne On I-4 After Driver Suffers Medical Emergency

Plant City, FL – On Saturday, October 11, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., a 54-year-old Apopka man died after a crash on westbound Interstate 4, west of Branch Forbes Road at mile marker 15. While driving a Kia SUV, the driver suffered a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The SUV veered into the median, struck a guardrail, and was redirected back across the highway. The vehicle then rotated, entered the outside grass shoulder, hit an embankment, became airborne, and overturned in a tree line.

The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. The driver’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Nothing further at this time.
