DADE CITY, FL — Florida Department of Transportation has announced that construction on the US 98 widening project in Dade City is officially complete as of July 22, 2026.
The design-build project widened a 1.6-mile stretch of US 98 (Dade City Bypass) from 7th Street South to 7th Street North, expanding the roadway from two lanes to four lanes to improve traffic flow and safety.
As part of the $43.9 million project, crews also built two new roundabouts at 7th Street South and Old Lakeland Highway, installed new traffic signals at Meridian Avenue, 7th Street North, and River Road, and upgraded the existing traffic signal at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. New sidewalks were also added on both sides of the highway.
The project began with the design phase on March 8, 2023, followed by construction in late January 2024. Under the design-build process, the contractor, Cone & Graham, Inc., was responsible for both completing the final design and constructing the improvements.
The completed project is expected to improve traffic operations, enhance safety, and provide better access for motorists, pedestrians, and the surrounding Dade City community.
