ORLANDO, FL— Nearly 15 years after Michelle Parker disappeared in Orlando, her former fiancé, Dale Smith Jr., was arrested Wednesday morning, October 14, 2026, and charged with second-degree murder in connection with her disappearance.
According to the Orlando Police Department, Smith was taken into custody by the department’s Fugitive Unit and SWAT Team following years of investigative work and renewed efforts to solve the case.
Parker was last seen on November 17, 2011, when she dropped off her children at Smith’s residence. Investigators believe Smith was the last known person to see or hear from her before she disappeared.

According to Orlando police, investigators spent thousands of hours reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and conducting forensic examinations throughout the nearly 15-year investigation.
Over the past year, the department expanded its investigative team and launched a renewed examination of the case, reviewing witness testimony, statements made by Smith, and extensive digital evidence.
Advancements in forensic technology allowed detectives to conduct a more detailed analysis of information collected during the original investigation, including data from cellphones, computers, and vehicles associated with the case.
According to police, the additional digital evidence uncovered during that review helped investigators move the case forward, ultimately leading to Smith’s arrest.
“Our detectives continued to pursue leads and follow the facts wherever they led,” said Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith. “Their work reflects this department’s commitment to investigating every case thoroughly and pursuing justice, regardless of how much time has passed.”

The department recognized Detectives Phil McMican, John Stollmeyer, and Brandon Kerr, along with Analyst Andrew Boyd, for their persistence throughout the investigation.
Police also acknowledged the involvement of the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, including State Attorney Monique Worrell and Assistant State Attorney William Jay.
Despite Wednesday’s arrest, Parker’s remains have never been located. Investigators say they remain committed to finding her remains and providing additional answers to her family.
“In Orlando, we do not back down, and we do not give up. We will continue to pursue justice for every victim and hold those responsible accountable,” Chief Smith said.
The Orlando Police Department stated that no additional details would be released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and prosecution.
Smith faces a charge of second-degree murder. The charge remains an allegation unless proven in court.
