Trulieve Facility Facing Potential $15,000 Daily Fines Per Violation

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has issued a notice regarding potential violations following an industrial wastewater inspection at the Trulieve Jefferson facility in Jefferson County.

According to the letter, DEP conducted the inspection on April 15, 2026, at the facility located at 1948 Capps Highway in Monticello. During the inspection, department personnel observed possible violations of Chapter 403, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 62-620 of the Florida Administrative Code.

The correspondence states that inspectors identified the operation of a wastewater facility or activity discharging wastes into waters without a valid permit issued by the Department.

DEP noted that violations of Florida Statutes or administrative rules may result in liability for damages and restoration, along with civil penalties of up to $15,000 per day per violation, pursuant to sections 403.121, 403.141, and 403.161, Florida Statutes.

The letter requests a written response within 15 days of receipt. The Department indicated it is seeking additional information to assist in determining whether violations have occurred.

Officials also stated the correspondence is part of an ongoing agency investigation, preliminary to potential enforcement action under Florida law. We have reached out to Trulieve for comment on this matter. Nothing further at this time.
