Polk County officials have announced that portions of Avenue K Southwest and Sixth Street Southwest in Winter Haven will close starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, to allow for base repairs, concrete curb and sidewalk work, and asphalt milling and resurfacing.
According to the Polk County Roads and Drainage Division:
- Avenue K Southwest will be closed between Sixth Street Southwest and Fifth Street Southwest.
- A portion of Sixth Street Southwest will be closed from the Avenue K Southwest/Sixth Street Southwest intersection to Avenue M Southwest.
The roadways are scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026.

Detour Routes
- For traffic on the west side of the closure: Re-routed south on Seventh Street Southwest, east on Avenue M Southwest, north on Fifth Street Southwest, then east on Avenue K Southwest.
- For traffic on Sixth Street Southwest on the north side of the closure: Re-routed east on Avenue G Southwest.
Residents and motorists are advised to plan alternative routes during the closure period.
