Strong Thunderstorms Sweep Across Polk Through 8:00 AM

A line of strong thunderstorms is moving through southeastern Sumter, southeastern Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Hillsborough counties in Florida this morning.

At 6:47 AM, Doppler radar tracked the storms stretching from 7 miles west of Four Corners to near Temple Terrace and 12 miles west of Harbor Bluffs, heading east at 20 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph could knock down tree limbs and unsecured objects. Affected areas include Saint Leo, Palm Harbor, Haines City, St. Pete Beach, Tampa International Airport, and others. The storms are expected to continue through 8:00 AM. Stay alert and secure loose items.
