Polk County Woman Convicted of Attempted Second-Degree Murder in Lakeland Shooting

LAKELAND, FL— A Polk County jury has convicted Josie Lopez, 30, of attempted second-degree murder.

The incident occurred on March 18, 2024. Lopez and the victim arrived at Rush Hour Bar and Grill in Lakeland. After leaving the restaurant, they engaged in a verbal altercation. The victim asked Lopez to exit her vehicle. Lopez retrieved her belongings from the trunk before pointing a black firearm at the victim and firing three shots, striking the victim in the leg, hand, and abdominal area.

The victim survived the injuries.

Lopez is scheduled for sentencing on March 11 and faces a potential sentence of 25 years in Florida State Prison.
