Palm Harbor, FL. — Palm Harbor Fire Rescue arrived on scene at Temple Ahavat Shalom and found a male in his 30s on the roof with a severe laceration to his upper arm. The patient, a contractor performing stucco work with his crew, had been injured while operating a grinder.

Firefighters Fenton and Craw accessed the roof via a ground ladder already in place and immediately began patient assessment and care. A tourniquet was promptly applied to control active bleeding.

Acting Lieutenant Bacon requested a trauma upgrade and initiated the response of Truck 62 (Dunedin) to assist with extrication using the aerial bucket.

The crew continued to stabilize the patient on the roof until Truck 62 arrived. The patient was then removed from the roof and transported by Aeromed to a local Level 1 Trauma Center for further evaluation and treatment.
