
Professional Baseball Player Dies in Jet Ski Crash
Lido Key, FL – A minor league baseball player in the Baltimore Orioles’ system died following a head-on jet ski collision on Lido Key, Florida, on Sunday, according to team officials. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reported that two jet skis, each carrying two people, collided, ejecting all four individuals into the water.
The deceased, identified as 19-year-old Luis Guevara, was an infielder for the Orioles’ Florida Complex League (FCL) affiliate. Guevara, a Venezuela native, signed with the Orioles in January 2023 and debuted in the U.S. this season, playing in 30 minor league games. He passed away at a hospital following the incident.

The FCL Orioles postponed their scheduled games on Monday and Tuesday in response to the crash. Orioles general manager Mike Elias issued a statement acknowledging Guevara’s death and requesting privacy for his family, friends, and teammates.
The FWC is investigating the cause of the collision. No further details about the other individuals involved or the circumstances of the crash have been released.
