Preliminary investigation by PCSO Traffic Homicide detectives indicates the motorcycle was traveling on Old Avon Park Road and passed a witness in a non-passing zone at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle then entered a curve too fast, crossed the center line into the oncoming lane, and collided with the Dodge Ram. The motorcycle came to rest under the rear axle of the truck.

The roadway was closed for about three hours following the crash.
