Water Rescue Operation Conducted Near Treasure Island Causeway Bridge
Treasure Island, FL — On June 12, 2025, at approximately 12:01 a.m., Treasure Island Fire Rescue, Treasure Island Police Department, and emergency crews from nearby jurisdictions responded to a 911 call reporting a person yelling for help near the east side of the Treasure Island Causeway bascule bridge.
St. Pete Beach Fire Rescue deployed a rescue boat and located an adult male in the water with a head injury. St. Petersburg Fire Rescue paramedics provided on-scene treatment, and the individual was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg by Sunstar. The injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
Preliminary investigation indicates the man approached the bridge, which was closed for overnight maintenance, to observe the work. He fell approximately 20 feet into the water. Maintenance crews, located within the primary operations area, did not witness the incident.
