Kissimmee Man Arrested for Manslaughter After Mishandling Firearm Kills Friend

KISSIMMEE, FL – Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Kissimmee man on a manslaughter charge following a deadly shooting that investigators say happened while a loaded firearm was being mishandled inside a residence Wednesday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a shooting at approximately 8:40 p.m. on May 6, 2026, at a home located on Chatham Circle in Kissimmee. When deputies arrived, they found 21-year-old Orlando Jose Canizales suffering from a gunshot wound.

Canizales was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit and Homicide Unit responded to the scene and launched a death investigation. Investigators determined that Canizales was shot by a friend while the loaded firearm was being mishandled.

Following the investigation, 22-year-old Carlos Moises Garcia of Kissimmee was arrested and charged with manslaughter with a firearm. Garcia was booked into the Osceola County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
