Fatal Head-On Collision on State Road 60 Kills Two Drivers in Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL — A tragic head-on crash late Wednesday night claimed the lives of two men on State Road 60 in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. on March 18 at the intersection of State Road 60 and Mae Bass Road, near Yeehaw Junction.

Troopers report that a 2014 Honda CR-V, driven by a 54-year-old man from Tampa, was traveling eastbound on State Road 60. The driver attempted to overtake eastbound traffic and crossed into the westbound lane, entering the path of an oncoming 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The westbound vehicle was operated by a 52-year-old man from Greenacres City. The front ends of both vehicles collided in a direct head-on impact.

Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash caused all eastbound and westbound lanes of State Road 60 to be closed overnight, with lanes reopening around 6 a.m. on March 19.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. No other vehicles or injuries were reported in the incident. Nothing further at this time.
