Investigators say the pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, entered the roadway under unclear circumstances and walked directly into the path of the oncoming SUV. The vehicle, driven by a 27-year-old woman from Citra, was unable to avoid the collision.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries, while the driver remained on site and is cooperating with authorities. No other injuries were reported, as the Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
