Clearwater Man Arrested for Sexual Battery of a Child, Victim Tests HIV Positive
Pinellas County, FL — A 62-year-old Clearwater man, Bobby McAffee, was arrested on May 30, 2025, and charged with one count of Sexual Battery of a Child Less Than 12 Years Old, following a disturbing investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit.
The investigation began on August 23, 2024, after a male victim reported a sexual assault that occurred when he was 8 years old in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Detectives allege that McAffee pinned the victim to the ground, restrained his arms above his head, and sexually battered him. During an interview with detectives, McAffee admitted to the sexual contact and disclosed that he tested positive for HIV. Authorities confirmed the victim recently learned he is also HIV positive.

McAffee was taken into custody and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing, and due to Florida Statute 119.071, no further details identifying the victim will be released.
Authorities encourage anyone with additional information to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
