According to the arrest affidavit, on July 19, 2025, patrol units responded to a residential fire at a listed address in Eagle Lake, Florida. Upon arrival, contact was made with the reporting party and victim. The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, Jamaal Michael Grayson, entered the residence without permission while she was sleeping. Grayson barricaded himself in the victim’s bedroom, ignoring her repeated requests to leave the property.
Grayson then ignited the property within the bedroom. The victim attempted to open the barricaded door without success. As smoke was detected, law enforcement was called. After several attempts, the door was pried open, and Grayson fled the residence.

Florida State Fire Marshall Investigated the scene and determined that the fire originated in the north bedroom. The ignition source was identified as an open flame, such as a match or lighter, applied to the mattress, causing approximately $5,000 in damage to the occupied dwelling.
Grayson fled on foot, prompting law enforcement and K9 units to establish a perimeter. He was apprehended adjacent to the railroad tracks behind the RaceTrac gas station after fleeing northwest.

- Occupied Burglary (810.02.., 1 count, F2)
- First Degree Arson (806.01(1).., 1 count, F1)
