Elderly Passenger Ejected, Killed in Frostproof Two-Vehicle Crash

Frostproof, FL – On Sunday, November 10, 2025 at approximately 6:00 p.m., a fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on US Highway 27 at the intersection with County Road 630-A, resulting in the death of 79-year-old Denise Sample from New York.

A northbound 2011 blue Mazda CX9 collided with a southbound 2025 black Chevrolet Trax that was turning left onto CR 630-A. The impact struck the right rear passenger side of the Trax.

Sample, the rear-seat passenger in the Trax, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the Trax, both elderly residents from New York, were transported to Lakeland Regional Health with bruises and abrasions.

The 19-year-old male driver of the Mazda, a resident of Frostproof, was treated and released at the scene with no serious injuries.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating. Nothing further at this.
